Skidby Mill, a Grade II listed four-sailed windmill is the last working Mill in East Yorkshire.
Dating from 1821, the mill is set in an acre of beautiful countryside with outstanding views over the Yorkshire wolds. With is original outbuildings in the surrounding courtyard still intact, this historic building has been converted into the East Riding Rural Life.
The Museum holds exhibitions and artefacts showing how the people of rural East Riding worked and lived as well as a chance to see the Mill in action! Around the courtyard, there are further exhibits including a blacksmiths forge! Not forgetting the excellent cafe and tranquil picnic area perfect for enjoy al fresco picnics on sunny days.
The wildlife garden and adjacent field is a perfect place for children to roam free and play, so why not borrow one of our ‘Explorasacks’?
